Samajwadi Worker's Sari Yanked By Political Rivals

A Samajwadi Party worker is manhandled and her sari is yanked by two men from a rival party in a disturbing video.

Yesterday on 8 July 2021, in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, a woman from the Samajwadi Party went to file her nominations for the block panchayat polls. However, a few men snatched the candidate's nomination papers and manhandled her. They even yanked her sari. The police said that the men did not want her to file her nomination papers because they wanted their candidate to be elected unopposed. Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav shared the video of the incident on social media and alleged that the attackers were BJP workers. He called them "power hungry goons of Yogi Adityanath (Chief Minister)". The video went viral on social media.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also posted a video of the violence. UP police officer Prashant Kumar said security arrangements had been made for the filing of nominations but violence was reported from 14 areas. There is a lot of competition among political parties for the local elections in UP and there is a lot of news about violent clashes like this one.
