Rohit Sharma Injured During Practice and Fan Fined Rs. 6.5 Lakh

While a young boy, fan of Rohit Sharma, was fined Rs. 6.5 lakh for running onto the field in the middle of the match,Rohit Sharma injured himself while practice.

On 6th November 2022, Team India was playing against Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. During the match, when India was bowling, a young Indian fan with a tricolour in his hand, invaded the field as he wished to meet Rohit Sharma.

The boy was seen in tears as he got close to the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma but did not get to talk to him for a long period as the security personnel escorted him out of the stadium. When the security personnel tackled him on the ground and started dragging him, Rohit was seen asking them to go easy on the fan. The match was halted for some time. The name of this fan and other information about him could not be ascertained. The boy was detained by the security and was eventually fined Rs 6.5 lakh for running onto the field in the middle of the match. Many times you must have seen fans forcibly entering the ground. Usually in such incidents the security guards catch the fan and throw them out of the field. But, this is a rare case of imposing a fine on the fan. However, it is normal in Australia. But, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) management has made it public for the first time. The fine amount was also displayed on the huge scoreboard of the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. Social media fans have raised questions on this. Some social media users worried about how will the youth pay such a hefty fine?

Meanwhile, after defeating Zimbabwe in the match, India has advanced to the semi final and will play England on 10th November 2022. However, India captain Rohit Sharma sustained a powerful blow on his forearm during a training session, leaving the team with a massive injury scare ahead of its T20 World Cup semi-final against England. A big ice pack was tied to his right arm. He looked in considerable pain while watching the training session from a distance. To everyone’s relief, after applying an ice pack and taking some rest, Rohit resumed his training.  The Indian medical team will assess him after the session. We hope the injury is not serious and he recovers in time to play the semifinal.
