Rishabh Pant Recovers from COVID & Resumes Cricket

At the start of July Rishab Pant had got infected with Covid-19. He has now recovered and resumed practice with the team.

The Indian cricket team is in England for a 5 series five-match Test series against the England cricket team.

Before the series started there was a three-day practice match between the Indian team and the County Select XI  in Durham, England. However, at the start of July, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishab Pant got infected with COVID-19 and had been isolated away from the rest of the squad. This is why he did not participate in the warm up match. He tested negative for COVID twice and now has been allowed to resume practicing with the team. The BCCI posted a picture of Pant and welcomed him back to the team. Even Rishab posted a picture on twitter and thanked Ravi Shastri for welcoming him back.

Meanwhile, another Indian team is in Sri Lanka for a 3-match ODI series. India had won the 1st ODI match. In the second ODI match against Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka had scored 275/9. When it was India’s turn to bat, they had lost 7 wickets for 193 runs and everyone thought India would lose. But then Deepak Chahar came in and played very well scoring 69 runs and led India to victory. India scored 277/7. In media interviews he said he has learnt the art of chasing from the great Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Chahar said Dhoni is a big inspiration to him. Having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, India will now face Sri Lanka in a dead-rubber third ODI on 23 July 2021.
