Reliance Jio Sees a Fall in Data Consumption

Reliance Jio sees a fall in subscribers and data consumption after banning pornographic websites.

On 27 October 2018 the Department of Telecommunications ordered all the Internet Service Providers [ISPs] to ban all pornographic websites. Following this, Reliance Jio has blocked hundreds of pornographic websites on it’s network since October 2018.

The pornographic ban by the government has affected Reliance Jio network subscription and data usage.

In September 2018 Reliance Jio had 37 million new users. In December 2018, the number of new subscribers fell to 27.9 million. Their average data consumption per consumer fell from 11 GB to 10.8 GB.

Reliance Jio is now looking at different ways to increase their subscribers.
