Pune Fort Murder Update: Full Timeline, Rs 1 Crore, Secret Signal, Legal Issues
Police allege Ketan Agarwal's murder at Lohagad Fort was a carefully planned conspiracy involving premeditation, financial motives, and an attempted cover-up, as the investigation continues.
The alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort near Pune has taken several new turns as police continue their investigation.
According to investigators, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary visited the fort before the incident to select the location and rehearse the murder. Police allege they had agreed on a secret signal—Siya would sit down pretending to drink water or tie her shoelaces—after which Chetan would push Ketan into the gorge. Investigators also claim the two spoke for 34 minutes before the incident, during which Siya allegedly shared their location and confirmed there were no tourists nearby.
On 18 June 2026, Ketan picked up Siya and drove to Lohagad Fort. Police say Chetan secretly reached the fort later and was captured on CCTV following the couple. According to investigators, Siya gave the pre-decided signal around 2:30 pm, following which Chetan allegedly pushed Ketan nearly 400 feet into the gorge. Siya later called Ketan's mother and claimed he had accidentally fallen.
Three days later, Ketan's family visited the spot and said it was unlikely he had slipped accidentally. This led to the FIR. Police are also investigating Ketan's missing passport and examining whether it was deliberately hidden before the couple's planned Bali trip.
According to police, Chetan carefully planned to avoid detection by switching off his internet, leaving his personal phone at his shop, using an employee's phone, travelling on a scooter instead of a car, and wearing a hoodie despite the hot weather. Investigators say the unusual hoodie ultimately helped identify him through CCTV footage.
Police further allege that Siya took around ?1 crore from Ketan, claiming it was for wedding shopping, and later handed the money to Chetan. Investigators believe the two planned to wait three years after Ketan's death before marrying so that they would not come under suspicion.
A separate legal dispute has also emerged over who officially represents Siya in court. Meanwhile, police say Siya and Chetan had known each other for years and were allegedly in a relationship.
The case has also drawn large crowds to Lohagad Fort, with visitor numbers increasing significantly since the investigation became public. Police say the investigation is still ongoing, and the final outcome will depend on the evidence presented before the court.
