In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old student, Arya Srirao, ended his life by jumping from the 14th floor of his residential tower in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, on the night of 25th and 26th July 2024. The police believe Arya's suicide was influenced by his addiction to online gaming.

The incident has deeply affected both parents and youngsters. Arya's father, who works in Nigeria, returned immediately upon hearing the devastating news. His mother, an engineer, is a homemaker.

The Pune Police reported that Arya had become increasingly addicted to online games in recent months, often isolating himself and spending long hours on his laptop. They found a "log out" message, three maps of his house, notes in coding language, and a list of players in Arya's notebook. One of the maps detailed a method for committing suicide.

The "log out" message included the letters 'XD', which the police suspect is related to the online game Arya was playing. Arya’s laptop has been seized and handed over to cyber experts to unlock and investigate its contents, as his parents did not have the password.

Arya's father mentioned that Arya had been hiding many of his possessions and had deleted his laptop’s search history. His parents also noted that Arya had become more aggressive and isolated since he began playing online games.
