Pulwama Soldier’s Widows Protests Against Rajasthan Govt
The widows of the soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack are protesting and claiming that the Rajasthan government had broken its promises.
Do you remember the Pulwama attack of 2019? Many Indian soldiers were martyred including 3 from Rajasthan. The widows of these soldiers from Rajasthan have been protesting since the last 10 days. The widows who participated in the dharna claimed that the government had broken its promises. They staged a dharna at the residence of Congress leader Sachin Pilot.
One of the widows has been demanding a job for her brother-in-law instead of her 4-year-old son. She said, “I want a job for my brother-in-law. It is up to me how I take care of my son. He will study and find something else. Another widow, Madhubala demanded the government to install a statue of her husband in the village, while the third widow, Sundari Gurjar is demanding that the college in her village be named after her husband.
The BJP said that the government sent ministers out who assured that the brother-in-law would get a job. Promises were made but the chief minister backtracked in two hours. The government has failed to fulfill the promises it made.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, on the other hand, sparked fury by tweeting a letter. CM Gehlot, in his letter, stated, "How can we justify giving jobs to any other relative by trampling upon the rights of the children of the martyr? What will happen to the children of the martyr when they grow up? There is perhaps no such package in any other state for the families of the martyrs. BJP leaders misinformed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. I have shared the facts with Rajnath Singh and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge," As the tweet by Ashok Gehlot sparked fury, the protesting widows marched towards the CM residence where police stopped them using barricades. As per reports, one of the protestors even fainted during the commotion. No proper medical assistance was provided at the scene. The victim was looked after by a compounder as no doctors were available at the scene.
