Premanand Maharaj Disciple Death: Suicide, Genitals Cut Off, Suicide Suspected
A 25-year-old disciple of Premanand Maharaj, Deepak Lodhi, died after falling from the fourth floor of an ashram in Vrindavan.
Premanand Maharaj is a popular spiritual leader whose ashram in Mathura-Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, attracts many followers.
On 25 September 2026, a 25-year-old disciple died after falling from the fourth floor of Guru Kripa Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan. The disciple was identified as Deepak Lodhi, also known by his spiritual name Rasik Dulari Sharan. He was from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and helped with electrical work at the ashram.
People at the ashram took him to a hospital after the fall, but he later died. Police initially suspected suicide and are investigating the incidents related of his death.
What Happened Before His Death?
CCTV footage shows Deepak leaving his room at around 10:25 am. His clothes had blood stains. He then went to the fourth-floor terrace, where he sat and later lay on the ground for a few seconds.
At around 10:36 am, he got up and fell from the terrace. Police are examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to understand what happened before his death.
Injuries Raise Questions
Police found a blood-stained grinder in the room where Deepak was staying. He also had serious injuries, including an injury to his private parts.
Police are investigating when and how these injuries happened and whether the grinder was connected to them. His post-mortem report reportedly found severe blood loss.
What Does His Family Say?
Deepak's family said they had not been able to meet or speak to him for a long time. His younger brother, Manish, said he had visited the ashram but was not allowed to meet Deepak. The family has raised questions about his death and demanded a CBI investigation.
Deepak’s Life
According to his family, Deepak was a good student and wanted to join the Indian Army. After he was declared unfit, he became more interested in spirituality. He later completed the Narmada Parikrama, covering nearly 3,000 kilometres on foot.
In 2024, he received initiation from Premanand Maharaj and took the name Rasik Dulari Sharan. He had been living in Vrindavan since then.
Earlier Controversies
The incident has also brought attention to earlier controversies involving some disciples associated with Premanand Maharaj.
Videos of some disciples behaving rudely with people during walks outside the ashram had earlier circulated on social media. There have also been allegations related to land and an earlier fire at a flat where Premanand Maharaj had lived. These incidents are separate from Deepak’s death.
Police Investigation
Police are examining the CCTV footage, mobile-phone data, forensic evidence and other material to understand what happened before Deepak’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
