PPE Suits: New Wedding Outfits?

Couples are opting for PPE suits for their wedding rituals instead of traditional attires. Watch our latest video to learn more.

In India,  weddings are big and done with a lot of pomp and show. The bride wears heavy beautiful sarees aur lenghas and the groom wears sherwanis. But now due to the coronavirus, the way weddings are held has changed. Let me tell you about some unique weddings. On 26th April, a couple in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam got married wearing PPE suits because the groom had tested positive for Covid-19. The video went viral which shows both the bride and the groom, and three other people in full PPE suits at the wedding ceremony.

Navin Garg, the Tehsildar of Ratlam said, "We came here to stop the wedding but on request and advice of senior officials, the wedding took place. The couple was made to wear PPE kits so that the infection doesn't spread.”

Similarly there was another wedding in Kerala on 25th April. The groom had tested positive for the corona virus and was admitted to the hospital. The wedding was fixed 1 year back. So the bride and the groom’s family requested the collector and hospital  authorities to get them married at the hospital itself. Both granted permission for the function. But they said that the families will have to follow all the covid protocols very strictly. The families agreed. The bride then wore a PPE suit instead of the traditional bridal saree and tied knot. The wedding took place in a special room in the hospital. The wedding took place in the presence of the groom’s mother, also covid positive and another close relative of the bride.
