Phase 6 of Lok Sabha Election Polls

The phase 6 of Lok Sabha elections were held on 12 May 2019, for 59 seats Lok Sabha, across seven states.

The phase 6 of Lok Sabha elections were held on 12 May 2019. Elections were held for 59 Lok Sabha seats, across seven states.  Elections were held in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, and Jharkhand. A 64% voter turnout was recorded in all the states. This is slightly higher than the voter turnout of 63.7% which was recorded in 2014.

West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout of 84.8%. Haryana recorded a voter turnout of 69.7%, Madhya Pradesh 65.3%, Jharkhand 64.5%, Delhi 60.5%, Bihar 59.3% and Uttar Pradesh 54.7%. The seventh and last phase of the elections will be held on 19th May 2019. Incidents of violence were recorded in Tamluk, West Bengal. The CRPF had to blank fire to disperse an unruly mob.

Some of the well known candidates who contested in the elections were Maneka Gandhi, Varun Gandhi, Digvijaya Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sheila Dikshit, Akhilesh Yadav and Manas Bhunia.The votes will be counted on 23rd May 2019. The Election Commission has made special arrangements, to make sure the votes will be calculated smoothly.
