Petrol & Diesel Prices to Increase in April

Currently in India the Petrol and Diesel being sold is the Bharat Stage IV (BS-IV) variety. The BS-IV when used produces a lot of pollution and harms the environment. The Supreme Court on October 24, last year, had ruled that no BS-IV vehicle will be sold across the country with effect from April 1, 2020. Instead, the BS-VI type of fuels will be sold all over the country. The BS6 fuel when used in emits extremely less harmful gases. Because of this, there is very less pollution and it helps protect the environment.
Now people across India will soon have to pay more for petrol and diesel as the country upgrades Bharat Stage VI fuels (BS-VI) from April 1.Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) , the largest oil supplier in India. On 28th February, it said it is ready to supply low emission BS-VI fuels from April 1 and that there will be an increase in prices.The IOC has spent over ?17,000 crore to upgrade its refineries to produce BS-IV diesel and petrol. Chairman Sanjiv Singh did not announce the new prices but said that, there will be slight increase in prices but price hike will not be a burden on consumers.
