Pakistan Snubs Modi for Kartarpur Sahib Inauguration

Pakistan Government snubbed PM Narendra Modi by inviting Ex-PM Manmohan SIngh for the inauguration of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.

Kartarpur Sahib, is a gurdwara in Narowal District, Pakistan. This is a famous place for Sikh worshippers and many visit it every year. However since the partition of  India and Pakistan, Indian Sikh people could not visit the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. Now the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor has been built by India and Pakistan. Indian can visit the Gurdwara without a visa they only need to get a permit. The Ministry of External Affairs said that about 5,000 pilgrims will be allowed to visit the Gurdwara from India daily. The limit will later be increased to 10,000.

On Monday 30th September, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, "The Kartarpur Corridor inauguration is a big program and Pakistan is preparing for it in a big way." Instead of inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan has decided to invite former Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh for the inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor, which will be held in November. However Manmohan has said he will not attend. Pakistan did not invite PM Modi because of the problems going on between India and Pakistan.
