Oscar Winning Sound Designer Called RRR a Gay Love Story

Having worked on some of the biggest Indian films over the years, the Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has sparked a controversy on Twitter with his comments on SS Rajamouli's blockbuster

RRR is a fictional story set in the pre-independence period, based on the lives of two real-life heroes : Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.In real life they had never met. However in the movie they were shown as best friends. The movie featured Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran. RRR received a lot of praise. The film earned a whopping amount of over 1200 crores globally. Meanwhile, Resul Pookutty is a hugely talented Oscar winner. He is a sound designer. A Sound designer gives background music in movies. Resul has given background music like ‘Black’, ‘ Pushpa: The Rise’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ etc. Resul Pookutty has sparked a controversy on Twitter with his comments on 'RRR’. Pookutty in his tweet called the film a 'gay love story.' Adding to that, he also said Alia Bhatt was used as a 'prop.' However, Alia had earlier during promotion had stated that her role is 'small but important'. 

‘In response to his tweet, Baahubali’ producer Shobu Yarlagadda slammed Resul Pookutty and wrote,  "I don't think @RRRMovie is a gay love story as you say but even if it was, is "gay love story" a bad thing? How can you justify (explain) using this? Extremely disappointed that someone of your standards and achievements can say this! Resul reacted to the same and replied, "Agree totally. Absolutely nothing wrong even if it was. I just posted my opinion about the film. You don't have to take offense about this.” However, This is not the first time the film has been associated with the LGBTQ theme. After the film was released on Netflix, a number of international viewers criticized the brotherhood romance referred to as “Bromance” between the two characters in the film.
