New Twist: Did Sonam Kill Raja Due To 'Mangal Dosha'?
Shocking new details reveal that Sonam Raghuvanshi, with help from her lover Raj and his friends, planned her husband Raja's murder during their Meghalaya honeymoon.
The Meghalaya honeymoon murder case has taken many shocking turns. Sonam Raghuvanshi, who once wanted to study MBA, was asked by her family to give up her dreams and help her brother Govind in their plywood business. There, she met Raj Kushwaha, who worked in the accounts department.
Police say Raj acted calm but secretly planned the murder of Sonam’s husband, Raja Raghuvanshi. During their honeymoon in Meghalaya, Sonam stayed in secret contact with Raj. He allegedly sent three friends—Akash, Vishal, and Anand—to kill Raja. These men travelled from Indore to Guwahati before Raja and Sonam reached Shillong.
Reports say Sonam gave Raj ?50,000 to cover the killers' travel and stay. Raj later backed out, but the three men still went. Sonam reportedly promised them ?15 to ?20 lakh to go ahead with the murder. Police also say Sonam was ready with a second plan—to push Raja off a cliff herself if needed.
After the murder, Sonam vanished. She was later found at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, claiming both she and Raja were attacked. But police confirmed she was involved, and Raj was also arrested. Their long phone calls, secret plans, and Sonam’s rushed honeymoon bookings raised suspicions. Sonam had booked everything and asked Raja to wear gold jewellery worth over ?10 lakh.
Another shocking detail is that money was transferred to the killers from an account named Jitendra Raghuvanshi—Sonam’s cousin. Police are checking if hawala routes were used, but her family denies this.
Sonam’s brother Govind has now disowned her. He said he will make sure she is punished. He had earlier spent days in rain searching for her, thinking she was dead, only to find she was alive and arrested.
Raja’s mother is heartbroken and said, “If Sonam didn’t want to be with my son, she could have left. But why did he have to die?”
Meanwhile, Raj Kushwaha’s family says he is innocent and being trapped. His sister said, “He always supported our family. We want justice.”
Meghalaya’s Minister Alexander Hek has asked both families to apologise for harming the state’s image. He also warned that a defamation case may be filed.
