Mumbai Police Gets Threat Call about Bomb Blasts in Local Trains

Mumbai Police on Sunday received a threat call from an unidentified man who claimed that serial blasts would occur on a local train in Mumbai.

The Mumbai police control room on Sunday 6 August 2023 morning had received a threat over the phone from an unidentified caller. Mumbai Police says, "Police control room received a threat call from a man. The caller told Police that serial blasts will take place on a local train in Mumbai. The caller claimed to be speaking from the Vile Parle area and then switched off his phone. Police is investigating the matter." However, when the police official sought more information on it, the caller did not respond. Considering the gravity of the situation, the police alerted the officials. Earlier on Saturday 5th August 2023, a hoax bomb threat was received by the Mumbai Police from an unidentified caller claiming the possibility of a blast or untoward incident at Mumbai and Delhi Domestic and International Airports, officials said. According to the police, an official of a police station in another state informed Mumbai Police Control Room regarding the claims of an unidentified caller stating the possibility of a bomb blast.

Since the situation was critical, Mumbai traced the phone number. The police then swung into action. They traced the person's mobile phone number location and with the help of other technical evidence, the man was nabbed from the Juhu area, from where he allegedly made the threatening call. A 25-year-old Man was arrested from Juhu on Sunday. During the probe, it came to light the man had come from Bihar and was in Mumbai for the last 10 days. The mobile phone used to make the call was also seized, the police said.

Preliminary information suggested the man was a habitual drinker. The man was drunk when he placed the call. A case has been registered against him.
