Most Sri Lankan Bombers Were Highly Educated
Sri Lankan government have identified the suicide bombers of the gruesome Easter attacks. They have discovered that these bombers were well-educated and came from upper middle-class families.
The Sri Lankan government have blamed the Easter suicide attacks on the terrorist group National Tawheed Jamath (NTJ). The terrorist group ISIS has taken responsibility for the attacks, but authorities are not sure of their involvement. The death toll has now increased to 359. Sri Lanka’s Defence Minister Ruwan Wijewardene, said that, out of the 9 bombers 8 have been identified. The 9th bomber was the wife of one of the suicide bombers.
Most of them were well-educated and came from middle or upper middle-class families. These suicide bombers were financial independent and their families were financially stable as well. One of the suicide bomber’s named Abdul Lathief Jameel Mohamed, studied in the UK between 2006 and 2007. He later completed his post graduation in Australia, before he came back to settle down in Sri Lanka. Two of the other suicide bombers were brothers. Their father was a rich spice trader. He was very well known in the business community in Sri Lanka.
The police have arrested 60 people so far. A team of FBI agents and US military officials are helping with the investigation. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has asked the Defence Secretary and the Inspector General of Police to quit, because the failed to prevent the blast even after receiving several warnings.
10 Indians have now lost their lives in these attacks. 7 of them were part of the Janata Dal (Secular) from Karnataka. Their bodies arrived in bangalore yesterday. Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda came to pay their respects.
