'Merry Christmas To All': US Attacks ISIS Terrorists in Nigeria

The US carried out missile strikes on ISIS terrorists in Nigeria on Christmas 2025 after repeated attacks on Christians, not on the Nigerian state itself.

On Christmas Day 2025, the United States carried out targeted missile strikes against ISIS terrorists hiding in Nigeria, not against the country itself.

The US Department of War shared a video on X showing missiles being launched from a US Navy ship. This created confusion, with many people believing the US had attacked Nigeria.

US President Donald Trump later clarified that the strikes were aimed at ISIS terrorists operating in northwest Nigeria. He said these groups were responsible for brutally killing innocent people, especially Christians.

In his statement, Trump warned that he had earlier told the terrorists to stop their attacks on Christians or face serious consequences. He said the US military carried out powerful and precise strikes and made it clear that the US would not allow radical Islamic terrorism to grow.

The Nigerian government also confirmed the operation and said it will continue to cooperate with the US in the fight against terrorism.

According to data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), between 2020 and 2025, Nigeria witnessed 385 attacks targeting Christians, in which at least 317 people were killed.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing threat of terrorism in parts of Africa and the international efforts being made to stop extremist violence.
