Today is Raksha Bandhan, a special day celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. Many of you know that Mukesh Ambani, India’s biggest business tycoon and Asia’s richest man, has a younger brother named Anil Ambani. But did you know that Mukesh Ambani also has two sisters?

Mukesh Ambani, along with his brother Anil, and their two sisters, Nina and Dipti, were born to the late Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Reliance Industries, and his wife Kokilaben Ambani. The order of their birth is as follows: Mukesh, Anil, Nina, and Dipti. Nina is the elder daughter, while Dipti is the youngest child of the Ambani family.

Nina Kothari

Nina Kothari was born in 1962. She married Bhadrashyam Kothari, a well-known businessman, in 1986. Like her father and brothers, Nina has shown impressive entrepreneurial skills. In 2003, she founded Javagreen, a coffee chain that served refreshments, sandwiches, and more.

After the untimely passing of her husband Bhadrashyam due to cancer in 2015, Nina took over as the Chairperson of Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited. Although it was challenging for her to manage the company, she succeeded in growing the Kothari Group significantly. She even added two more companies to the group: Kothari Petrochemicals and Kothari Safe Deposits Limited.

Today, Nina Kothari owns assets worth over ?52.4 crores, and her company is valued at ?333 crores. She lives with her two children, Arjun and Nayantara.

Dipti Salgaoncar

Dipti Salgaoncar was born in 1963. She married Dattaraj Salgaocar, the Managing Director of V. M. Salgaocar & Bro. Pvt. Ltd, in 1983. Their relationship began when the Ambani and Salgaocar families were neighbors in 1978. Both families lived in Mumbai’s only skyscraper at that time, Usha Kiran. As the families grew close, Dipti and Dattaraj’s friendship blossomed into love.

Dipti runs a non-profit arts initiative called the Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts. The center provides working and exhibition space, as well as assistance and grants to artists. Dipti and Dattaraj have two children, Ishita and Vikram, and they reside in a beautiful home in Dona Paula, Goa.
