Today we will talk about a Shivling whose secret is still unknown to people and which is also considered as the only living Shivling in the world and it is increasing in size every day. However, the reason for this is still unknown to people and devotees.

There are several temples of Lord Shiva in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. The whole area comes under the World Heritage Site. And every day a huge number of devotees come to the temple inorder to seek blessings from lord Shiva. There is a Shivling called living Shivling. The most surprising thing is that the Shivling of the Matangeshwar temple is still growing. This Shivling is now about 9 feet long. However, this Shivling is still growing by an inch every year. It is said that the Shivling is just as much above the ground as it is below the ground and the Shivling is believed to be growing on both the sides. Temple priests say that the upper part of this Shivling is going towards heaven and the lower part is slowly going towards hell. In this way, the day when the lower part of the Shivling reaches hell, the Kal Yuga will come to an end.

According to the hindu Puranas, Lord Shiva had divine wealth. He gave this money to Yudhisthira, the chief of the Pandavas. However Yudhisthira again gave this money to a sage called Matanga. And later Matanga Muni gave that to King Harshavarman, who later put it under the ground. Eventually, when no one was found to take care of the money, a Shivling was built around the place where the money was kept. Since this Money was given to Matanga sage Raja Harshavarman,  the shivling which was built is called the Matangeshwar Mani. And because of the divine wealth which the Shivling is associated with, the Shivling is considered to be growing even today.
