Mark Zuckerberg Changes Facebook’s Name to ‘Meta’

Facebook is no more. Last night, during Facebook‘s Connect 2021 event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will now be called Meta.

Social media platforms Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp are owned by the parent company Facebook. Over the past two decades, Facebook has been famous as a brand with its big blue-and-white letter F.

Last night 28 october, during Facebook‘s Connect 2021 event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the Facebook parent company will now be called ‘Meta’ and even the logo has been changed. The new logo is designed like an infinity-shaped symbol.

After announcing this he said that, "Even though the company name has been changed our mission remains the same. We will continue bringing people together, and the work on our apps will not change.” The name of Facebook and other apps such as Instagram and WhatsApp, will remain the same but they will be under the Meta umbrella. You all may be wondering about the meaning of the word ‘Meta’. Meta is short for the word Metaverse. A metaverse is a 3D virtual environment where people can interact with each other via avatars. Mark Zuckerberg said that in the future the full world can connect and interact with each other in a “metaverse." Currently Facebook is facing many problems as an ex-employee named Francis Haugen, leaked a lot of information about Facebook. The employee had said that Facebook is very much aware about people posting hate speech regarding religious communities and people but still FB ignores it. They do not remove it because they support such bad groups to earn money. Many people are saying that FB changed its name and is making big publicity about this so people's attention gets diverted and they do not focus on all this.
