Following a debate between the cops and a couple in Punjab an on-duty police officer shot at the man injuring him in the thigh.

In Punjab’s Dera Bassi on 26th June a man named Hitesh and his wife were asked by the police to search their bags, however, they refused and instead started arguing with the police.  Later, they called some of their other relatives.  The entire incident which has been captured on a camera clearly shows the couple along with a few of their relatives arguing with the police team.  They gheraoed Sub-Inspector (SI) Balwinder Singh, for misbehaving with his wife. After that he got shot in his thigh by the police officer and was seen bleeding as he moved back. There were many other officers who were also there at the site, but they did not intervene or try to calm down the dispute or prevent the mishap. The victim who sustained a bullet injury in his leg is presently undergoing treatment at the hospital.  https://twitter.com/i/status/1541650605265289216

While the victim's family has alleged an 'intentional attack' by the cop, the police have denied such allegations and stated that it was purely out of 'self-defence'.  Anyway, the video which has surfaced on the internet is clearly looking like an incident of Police arrogance. The sub-inspector Balwinder Singh responsible for shooting at a man has been suspended.  A three-member special investigation team (SIT) was also constituted to investigate the incident, however, strict action is demanded against those who are involved in the crime.
