Man Killed by Mob Inside Golden Temple

A day after a man was beaten to death at the Golden Temple in Punjab's Amritsar, another man was lynched in Kapurthala over alleged sacrilege.

A man was beaten to death by pilgrims at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday 18 December evening. Let me tell you about the shocking incident. On 18 Dec the evening prayers were being broadcasted live on television. That time an unknown youth ran inside the central enclosure of the temple where the holy book Guru Granth Sahib is placed. He then  trampled on a Rumala (the decorative cloth on which the holy book Guru Granth Sahib  is installed), and picked up a diamond studded sword but before he could do anything he was overpowered by staff. The entire incident was broadcasted live on TV. When people saw what the boy did, they rushed to the Gurudwara and grabbed him as the Gurudwara staff were taking him away. People then badly beat him up till he died. All this happened before the police arrived. Then on 19 December 2021 a similar incident happened in Kapurthala's Nizampur village.

A youth was locked inside a room and badly beaten up because he had disrespected the Guru Granth Sahib. When police reached the place, they demanded to enter the area but people did not allow it. According to reports the man was stabbed to death with a sword. It is unclear what the youth had exactly done. Sadly this is not the first time an incident of mob lynching over sacrilege. It has happened many times in Punjab but it is the first time it happened in the Golden Temple which is a very important place for Sikh people. The police are investigating both the cases and checking if they were connected to each other and whether it is a conspiracy for the upcoming 2022 General Elections in Punjab.
