Man Pushes Wife on Train Tracks in Mumbai: Wife Dies on the Spot
After a chronic domestic dispute, 42-year-old Raju Gupta murdered his wife by pushing her in front of a moving train at Mulund station before being captured by police within 20 hours.
In a harrowing incident on March 14, 2026, 42-year-old electrician Raju Gupta allegedly murdered his wife, Pushpa Gupta (36), by pushing her in front of a moving train at Mulund Railway Station in Mumbai.
The couple had a history of domestic strife. Pushpa had previously fled to Uttar Pradesh following a police complaint in February, but was recently persuaded to return by her brother, Kamlesh Kumar Gupta, an Indian Army soldier on leave. However, fresh arguments on the day of the incident led Pushpa to seek a divorce.
While Pushpa waited at Platform No. 1, her brother Kamlesh and her elder son had returned to the family home to retrieve forgotten documents. In a calculated move, Raju reportedly locked Kamlesh and the son inside the house before heading to the station with his younger, 13-year-old son.
At the station, after Pushpa refused to reconcile:
-
The Act: Around 10:45 AM, Raju pushed Pushpa onto the tracks as a local train approached.
-
Witness: Their younger son witnessed the entire event.
-
Outcome: Pushpa was crushed and declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Raju fled the scene with his younger son, traversing through Thane, CSMT, Dadar, and Virar to board a Gujarat-bound train. Using CCTV tracking, police apprehended him within 20 hours. He has been charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder.
