Mamata Banerjee to Become CM for the 3rd Time

Results for the assembly elections in 5 states have been announced with Mamata Banerjee making a comeback for the 3rd consecutive time.

The Assembly elections 2021 were held amid a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country – a second wave that has ridden the country to an unprecedented crisis, even as hospitals struggle with oxygen and beds.Now the Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Puducherry Assembly Election Results have been announced. 

1. West Bengal: 

Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) had a very strong campaign fight with the BJP prior to the elections. Now the TMC has won the election in West Bengal by majority votes. With this victory, Mamata Banerjee is set to begin her third consecutive term as the chief minister of Bengal. Mamata lost the election in Nandigram but she won the state. 

2. Tamil Nadu: 

For 10 years the AIADMK had governed in Tamil Nadu. Now after a decade, their arch-rival DMK won the election. M K Stalin, the 68-year-old DMK president, had waited for 40 years to be Tamil Nadu’s CM. Now his dream has come true he is all set to become CM. 

3. Kerala : 

Pinarayi Vijayan, the 76-year-old CPI(M) leader, became the first to continue in office after completing a full term. 

4. Assam: 

The BJP is set to form the government in Assam for the second consecutive time. 

5. Puducherry: 

The AINRC will take power in union territory Puducherry after winning 16 seats in the 30-member assembly.
