Mahavitaran's Wonder Woman Climbs Electric Poles

Usha Jagdale working with the Mahavitaran, has proven that women can do anything. Watch our latest video to learn about her inspirational story.

All over the world the corona virus was spreading. To control the spread of the virus, the Government of India had taken a lot of steps. In Maharashtra's Beed District, the authorities tried their best so that not one person from the district is affected by the virus. In this fight with coronavirus MahaVitaran or Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) was also included. MSEDCL supplies electricity in different parts of Maharashtra. Following the lockdown and this dangerous situation of the virus spreading, many government employees and the MSEDCL staff were working hard so that the people who are at home do not face any issues with the electricity. People were at home for 2 – 3 months, it was summertime and the temperature in Beed district was about 40 degrees. If everyone was at home due to the lockdown, they needed electricity full time. In this situation, a senior technician Usha Jagdale from MSEDCL is working at par with her male colleagues.

Nowadays women are working shoulder to shoulder with men. Unfortunately still there are some areas where women’s involvement can rarely be seen. One such is onsite technical work like line man, electricians etc. Usha handled her house, fields, and two children and reached office on time daily. Usha Jagdale along with her colleagues worked relentlessly on the field without taking even a single day leave. Earlier if there was electricity failure, people immediately blamed the electricity board (MSEDCL), but even they were quiet when they saw that a lady technician was doing her duty with full responsibility along with taking care of her family.

In this fight with coronavirus, like the medical staff, health workers, police, tax / revenue department, cleaning staff Usha Jagdale was risking her life and working in the scorching sun to provide electricity to the people 24X7.

Being a lady Usha could have requested for a desk job in MSEDCL but after knowing her job profile, she decided to take up the onsite job. As part of her work, she had to climb electric poles and repair circuits. She, like her male counterpart, climbs electric poles with ease.

She dutifully does all the work in MSEDCL and because of her courage she has become an inspiration for other women.
