Maharashtra Schools To Reopen From 24th January 2022

Schools in Maharashtra will reopen from January 24 for all classes from 1 to 12.

Earlier the Maharashtra government had shut down schools and colleges till February 15 because of the spike in infections due to Omicron. Parents and students were very displeased as the education of children were getting badly affected. Now in a major relief, Schools in Maharashtra will reopen from Monday (January 24) for all classes from 1 to 12, state education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced on Thursday 20 January. She said that CM Uddhav Thackeray has given his permission for this. The education minister has also asked teaching and non-teaching staff to get fully vaccinated to ensure safety. Educational institutes have to follow all covid safety protocols and students must be taught to wear masks, sanitise and practise social distancing. Many other states had also shut down schools and colleges to control the spread of Omicron. All schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed till 23 January 2022. Currently in Bengaluru schools are also shut to control the spread of infections. Meanwhile, the Central Government is encouraging children above the age of 12 to get vaccinated.
