The Maharashtra state government has made it compulsory to wear masks in public. Any person not wearing masks is being heavily fined. However, the prices of masks in the market vary. Sellers are deciding their own price and there are no rules to regulate the pricing. The Maharashtra State Government has now set up a committee to give suggestions about regulating prices of face Masks and Sanitisers. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the committee has submitted its recommendations According to the recommendation of the committee, the N-95 mask will be available for around ? 19 to ? 50 depending on the type, while the double and triple layer masks will be available for just ? 3 to ? 4.

The rates have been finalized after a detailed study of the process and cost of manufacturing, availability, and affordability of raw material and demand in the market, he said. Once the government approves the rates, everyone has to follow this pricing while selling their masks. Now Maharashtra is the first state to take such a step.
