The Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings match on 29th March is the opening match of this year’s IPL. Tickets for the match were going to go on sale from 18th or 20th March.However, The Maharashtra state cabinet met on Wednesday and decided to ban the sale of tickets for the IPL matches at Wankhede Stadium.The decision was made due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Now there are around 70 cases in the country.The maharashtra government doesn't want a large crowd to gather at the stadium as the virus can spread very easily. 

This means that the Mumbai Indians-Chennai Super Kings opening match will be played to empty stands at the Wankhede Stadium.Regarding future IPL matches in Mumbai, the government will soon make a decision depending on the threat of the virus. India's Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju,said the IPL will not be cancelled if the BCCI follows all the rules of the government.

Officials from Mumbai Indians have said that this is a big loss but no one is thinking about money. The safety of citizens is top priority. It is okay if people sit at home and watch the match because people’s safety is important. Also, after the Indian government cancelled visas, the BCCI is now thinking of postponing the IPL from March 29th to mid April. Due to the current situation, it looks like the IPL matches will be played without an audience.
