Lagaan, Ghajini Actor Pradeep Rawat Passes Away at 74
Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, known for his iconic villain roles, passed away at the age of 74 after battling cancer.
Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat passed away at the age of 74. The news of his death was first shared by actor Yashpal Sharma, who paid tribute to his longtime colleague through an emotional post on Instagram.
According to his manager, Siddharth Tiwari, Pradeep Rawat had successfully recovered from cancer a few years ago. However, the disease returned about six weeks ago. He was admitted to hospital for treatment, but his condition worsened and he could not recover.
Pradeep Rawat was best known for playing powerful villain roles in Indian films. Many people remember him for his role in the Tamil blockbuster Ghajini. His performance was so well appreciated that he was chosen to play the same role in the 2008 Hindi remake opposite Aamir Khan.
He also acted in several popular films, including Lagaan, Baadshah, Rowdy Rathore, and many Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam movies. Before becoming a successful film actor, he played Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra's famous television serial Mahabharat. His powerful acting and deep voice made him one of India's most memorable screen villains.
Following the news of his passing, actors, filmmakers, and fans across the country paid tribute to Pradeep Rawat and remembered his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. His funeral is scheduled to take place on 5 August. He is survived by his wife and son.
