Krunal Pandya Dedicate 1st ODI Match to His Father

India made a perfect start to the three-match ODI series by thrashing England and Krunal Pandya dedicated his maiden ODI match to his father.

India played the 1st ODI match in the 3-match ODI series against England at the MCA Stadium in Pune on 23rd March 2021. England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bowl. The Indian team played very well and scored 317/5 and beat England by 66 runs. This match was Krunal Pandya's 1st ODI match. He was presented the ODI cap by his brother Hardik Pandya before the match started. Krunal was very happy and hugged his brother. The match started and Shikhar Dhawan put up a wonderful performance scoring 98 runs. Krunal Pandya came to bat at a tough stage when India was in trouble at 205/5 with less than 10 overs remaining. Krunal and KL Rahul took charge and put on an unbeaten 112-run stand. 

 

In the process, Krunal became the fastest batsman to score a half-century on his ODI debut. He scored 50 runs in just 26 balls. Krunal scored a total of 58 runs off 31 balls laced with 7 fours and two sixes. After India’s delivery, When commentators asked about his feelings, krunal said he dedicates this match to his father but after this he could not talk anymore and broke down. His brother Hardik pandya hugged him and consoled him. It was an emotional moment for the two brothers, who had lost their father Himanshu Pandya in January this year. When it was England’s turn to bat, fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur stole the show, taking four and three wickets respectively in the match. England scored 251 runs for all out. Thus India won by 66 runs.
