Kingfisher Beer Worth Rs. 25 Crore Seized In Karnataka

Karnataka seizes Rs. 25 crore Kingfisher beer, unfit for consumption, United Breweries faces FIR and halted sales.

Kingfisher is a famous beer that is manufactured by United Breweries Company. The Karnataka state excise department has seized beer worth Rs. 25 crores in Mysuru. As per officials Kingfisher Strong Beer and Kingfisher Ultra Lager Beer with batch numbers 7C and 7E, which were manufactured at the Nanjangud unit on July 17, 2023, have sediments. The department ordered a chemical test and told officials to keep the stock till the report comes. On 2 August 2023, the chemical test report of the beer came and it said that the beer as ‘Unfit for human consumption.’ The excise department directed the officials to destroy the stock. An FIR has been filed against United Breweries' company for producing poor-quality beer. The sale is currently halted, resulting in an increase in demand. Meanwhile, United Breweries Limited has stated that it is an isolated incident in a single batch of Kingfisher Ultra only and not Kingfisher Strong. The company is working closely with authorities to clarify the situation. Meanwhile, United Breweries Limited which manufactures Kingfisher Strong and Kingfisher Ultra beer, is yet to issue a statement on the claim of the excise department.
