Jemimah Rodrigues: Grace, Faith and the Power of Positivity

Jemimah Rodrigues’ story is one of courage, talent, and emotional honesty. She turned challenges into lessons and inspired millions with her spirit on and off the field.

Jemimah Rodrigues was born on 5 September 2000 in Bandra, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her father, a former junior-level cricketer, recognized her talent early and began coaching her at just four years old on a small ground inside their housing society.

Athletic from childhood, Jemimah also represented Maharashtra’s U17 field hockey team before fully focusing on cricket. By age 12, she had already earned a place in Maharashtra’s U19 squad. In 2017, she scored an unbeaten 202* against Saurashtra in a domestic match, becoming only the second Indian woman to hit a double century in that format.

She made her international T20 debut in February 2018 and ODI debut in March 2018. Her journey was filled with challenges training with boys, moving homes, and struggling for practice grounds. Yet, she stayed determined. A life-changing meeting with Sachin Tendulkar before her India debut inspired her to embrace challenges with courage.

In 2025, she delivered memorable performances, her maiden ODI century (102 vs Ireland) and an unbeaten 127 in the World Cup semi-final against Australia that led India to the final.

Jemimah also shared openly about her mental struggles during the 2025 World Cup, describing anxiety and self-doubt but also the importance of seeking help and having faith.

Her story reminds us that true strength lies not just in scoring runs, but in rising above fear with honesty, humility, and hope.
