Israeli Tourist & Local Woman Gang-Raped in Karnataka, 1 Dead
An Israeli woman and her friend were gang-raped in Hampi, Karnataka, highlighting rising sexual violence and the urgent need for better safety and law enforcement.
In a horrifying incident, a 27-year-old Israeli woman and her local female friend were allegedly gang-raped by a group of men in Hampi, Karnataka, on 6th March 2025. This comes just days after the Pune rape case, which we recently covered on our channel. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/bliDlEcpUUE
What Happened?
The Israeli woman was with three male friends and a local female friend when they were attacked late at night. The group was stargazing and playing music near a river around 11:30 PM when three men, speaking Kannada and Telugu, approached them. The men asked for directions to a petrol pump and demanded money. When the tourists refused to give more than Rs 20, the situation turned violent.
The attackers pushed the three male friends into the river. While two managed to escape, the third friend’s body was found two days later on 8th March. Meanwhile, two of the attackers sexually assaulted the local friend, while the third took the Israeli woman away and raped her separately. The attackers also stole their phones and money.
Police Action
A senior police officer said, “The men demanded Rs 100 but were given only Rs 20, which led to an argument and then a fight.” The police have filed a case and identified the suspects. Six teams have been formed to catch the culprits. So far, two suspects—Mallesh A Dasara (22) and Chetan Sai (21)—have been arrested.
Rising Crime Against Women
Despite strict laws, brutal sexual assaults continue to happen frequently. In 2022, the National Crime Records Bureau reported nearly 32,000 rape cases, averaging 87 incidents daily. However, the actual number is likely much higher, as many victims do not report cases due to fear, shame, or lack of trust in the police.
Conclusion
This shocking incident highlights the urgent need for better safety measures and stricter enforcement of laws to protect women. It also raises questions about why such crimes continue to happen despite awareness and legal provisions. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
