Is Ronaldo & Georgina Breaking the Saudi Law?

Now it looks like Ronaldo is set to break a Saudi Arabia law by living together with partner Georgina Rodriguez.

After leaving Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo joined a Saudi Arabian club named Al Nassr on a 2.5 year contract. Manchester United terminated his contract after a controversial interview with Piers Morgan, a British journalist, where he criticized the club's hierarchy and manager.  In a statement, Al Nassr revealed that Ronaldo joined the side on a deal until 2025, and it has been estimated to be worth more than 200 million euros. Under Saudi law, it is illegal to live in the same house without being married.

But now it also looks like Ronaldo is set to break a Saudi Arabia law by living together with partner Georgina Rodriguez. They have been together since 2017 but have not married. However, despite the law, the pair are not expected to be punished by authorities. According to a report, Ronaldo is unlikely to be punished due to his huge status as one of the best marketable players of the game. One Saudi Arabian lawyer in his statement has said that although the laws still prohibit co-habitation without a marriage contract, the authorities have begun to turn a blind eye and do not persecute anyone. And these laws are used when there is a problem or a crime. Another lawyer said that this particular law does not apply in case of a foreigner. Ronaldo was unveiled to a crowd at Al-Nasr Stadium on 3rd January 2023 after officially joining the Saudi club. However, Ronaldo will have to wait till 22nd of January before his much anticipated debut in the Saudi League. He is serving a 2-match ban he received for smashing an Everton fan’s phone back in April 2022, during his time at Manchester United, which we earlier told you about.
