IPL Beats Coronavirus As Most Searched On Google

Every year google announces a list of most searched terms on google. In the year 2020 IPL was the most searched followed by coronavirus. Watch our latest video to learn about the others.

This year in 2020 we heard the terms ‘coronavirus’ and ‘Covid-19’ the whole day and everyone’s lives were revolving around these two terms for most part of the year. All sports were suspended for more than 7 - 8 months. Google India on 9th December announced that Indian Premier League or the IPL was the top trending query in the year. It even beat coronavirus. IPL was followed by the coronavirus, US election results, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sammann Nidhi, Bihar election results and Delhi election results.  Some of the top 10 most searched news events were the Nirbhaya case, lockdown, India-China skirmishes and Ram Mandir. 

  Topping the list of the most searched personalities was US President-elect Joe Biden, journalist Arnab Goswami and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan were at the fourth and fifth spot, respectively. The list also included actress Kangana Ranaut, Rhea Chakraborty and Ankita Lokhande.Dil Bechara was at the top spot for the most searched movie. It was followed by Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru, Tanhaji and biopics made on the lives of Shakuntla Devi and Gunjan Saxena. Netflix’s Spanish crime drama Money Heist was at the top spot in the list of TV/Web series. After Money Heist was Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, Bigg Boss 14, Mirzapur 2 and Paatal Lok. Another term that was searched a lot on google was “How To”. There were searches like “How to make paneer”, “How to increase immunity”, “How to make Dalgona Coffee”, “How to link Pan card with Aadhaar card” and “How to make sanitizer at home” etc.
