Indore: Boy Commits Suicide After Rape Complaint By Teacher

A 19-year-old boy died by suicide on 6th August 2024 after one of his teachers allegedly framed him accusing him of raping her In Indore. The boy’s parents have made shocking claim.

A 19-year-old boy named Gaurav Hada from Indore, Madhya Pradesh was preparing to study for a Bachelor of Pharmacy for graduation. Being weak in English, his parents admitted him to English coaching classes in September 2023. He was being taught English by a 25-year-old unnamed female. Soon Gaurav became romantically involved with his teacher.

However, the teacher later allegedly started blackmailing Gaurav. She demanded money from him and restricted him from interacting with other girls or else she’d file a rape complaint against him. Gaurav resorted to stealing money to keep up with his teacher’s money demands. Once, Gaurav’s father caught him stealing money from him, whereupon Gaurav confessed to being blackmailed by the English teacher. There is no information about what actions Gaurav’s parents took against the teacher nor about why they didn’t file any case against her.

On 6th August 2024, the teacher filed a rape complaint against Gaurav at the Mahila police station. Mahila police station Inspector Kaushalya Chouhan detained Gaurav in the matter. Gaurav’s family told Inspector Kaushalya that the teacher had been harassing Gaurav and threatening to get him arrested in her rape case for a while now which made Gaurav very depressed.

Gaurav’s parents even showed Inspector Kaushalya Gaurav & teacher’s chats as proof that he didn’t rape her but the police officers didn’t budge.

Inspector Kaushalya & other officers allegedly demanded ?3 lakhs as a bribe to 'settle' the case and release Gaurav. Gaurav’s father paid ?45,000 and promised to pay the balance amount within 1 day, after which Gaurav was let go. When the family returned home at night, Gaurav went to his room crying and shut the door. A few hours later, when Gaurav’s sister went to his room, she found him hanging from the ceiling fan. The family rushed Gaurav to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

After his postmortem examination, Gaurav’s family took his body to the Mahila Police Station. They placed his body outside the station and staged a protest demanding Inspector Kaushalya & other officers' suspension on 7th August 2024. Later, Indore’s Additional Commissioner Amit Singh said that Gaurav’s teacher had alleged that Gaurav was threatening her (the teacher) to make their private videos viral on social media.

DCP Priyanka Dudve said, “We received a complaint from the woman teacher on Tuesday but before the probe was started, she came to the police station with an affidavit, claiming that both parties had struck a compromise in the case and she did not want to register an FIR.” Gaurav’s family has denied both the claims.

So far, there are no reports of Gaurav’s family filing an official complaint against the teacher or the Mahila Police Station officers. The Indore Police are investigating the suicide further.
