IndiGo Staff Falls Asleep in Cargo Compartment of Flight

The IndiGo aircraft took off from Mumbai with the loader in the pressurized cargo compartment who fell asleep behind the baggage.

On Sunday 12 December, an Indigo staff member was loading luggage of passengers in the cargo compartment of a Mumbai to Abu Dhabi flight. However, after loading the luggage this staff person went to sleep. Even when the flight took off, the person did not notice. He was fast asleep.

When the flight was in the air, the person woke up. The airlines learnt of his presence in the aircraft only after the plane landed in Abu Dhabi and after the cargo hold was opened. However, the person was found safe on arrival in the UAE. A medical examination was performed on him. After getting the requisite clearances from the authorities in Abu Dhabi on his physical condition, the loader was sent back to Mumbai as a passenger on the same aircraft. Asked about the matter, an IndiGo spokesperson told news agency PTI, "We are aware of the incident and the requisite authorities have been informed. The matter is under investigation."
