Indian Railways Cancel 39 lakh Tickets

Railways is set to cancel around 39 lakh tickets due to extension of the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

During the 21-day lockdown many people had booked train tickets thinking that the lockdown would end on 14th April. However PM Modi announced that the lockdown would be extended till 3rd May. Due to the extension trains will continue to remain closed so that virus doesn’t spread to other states. Many train tickets were booked to travel; between 14th April 3rd May. Railways has also said full refunds would be automatically provided for its online customers, while those who have booked at the counters can take the refunds up to 31 July. From no advance reservation of train tickets, will be allowed till further orders from the government. Trains will not be functional during the lockdown. Even flights have been stopped.
