Indian Airforce Staff Sumit Kumar: Spy For Pakistan Arrested
An Indian Air Force staffer was arrested for spying for Pakistan after a wider espionage network was exposed through an initial interrogation.
In January 2026, Rajasthan intelligence arrested Jhabraram in Jaisalmer for suspected espionage linked to Pakistan.
During interrogation, he revealed his network, including Sumit Kumar, a 36-year-old Indian Air Force employee from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Sumit, working as Multi-Tasking Staff at Air Force Station Dibrugarh, Assam, had been passing sensitive information to Pakistani handlers since 2023.
He leaked details about fighter aircraft, missile systems, personnel, and key bases like Chabua (Assam) and Nal (Rajasthan).
He also helped Pakistani agents operate covert social media accounts using his own details. Once enough evidence was gathered, Sumit was arrested in Chabua and brought to Jaipur for questioning. On 22 March 2026, he was formally charged under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, which carries penalties up to 14 years in jail.
Authorities are now investigating the broader network to prevent further leaks.
