India Wins 6 Medals in Just 3 Days at the Commonwealth Games

India has so far won a total of 6 medals in 3 days, with 3 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Commonwealth Games are among the world’s most recognised gaming championships after the Olympics. This year the 22nd Edition of the commonwealth games is being played, from the 28th of July to the 8th of August. The commonwealth game’s 22nd edition was held this year in Birmingham in England.

However, the first day of the event was mostly based on cultural programs and introductions. The 1st day of matches started on 29th July. Yesterday it had been 3 days since the tournament started on the 28th of July, Indian athletes have given their best and their performance has made everyone proud. India has won a total of 6 medals in 3 days, with 3 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals, and 1 Bronze Medal.

 

All the medals won by India are in Weightlifting. On the medal tally, Australia is currently leading the list with a total of 52 medals, including 22 Gold Medals, 13 Silver Medals, and 17 Bronze medals, all in just 3 days. Followed by the host England with 32 Medals. India is currently at the sixth position in the medal tally. Talking about the performance of the Indian Athletes, Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli in the 73kg weight category has made up for his top performance as he won India’s third gold in the Commonwealth Games. Sheuli lifted a total of 313kg  to grab the gold medal on the 31st of July. Earlier on the same day, another young weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga who is just 19 years old has won India another gold medal at the Commonwealth Games with a record total lift of 300kg. Making his debut at the Commonwealth Games at the senior level, the 19-year-old faced muscle cramps but still managed to break two records and secured the gold medal in the men’s 67kg category. Women’s cricket is also part of the CWG. Moreover, on the third day, the Indo-Pak cricket rivalry turned out to be a one-sided game as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian woman side picked up its first win of CWG against Pakistan. Pakistan’s decision to bat first backfired as India bowled them out for just 99 Runs in the 18 overs contest after rain delayed the start of play. In reply, Smriti Mandhana (63 not out off 42 balls), led the chase as India chased down the target in just 11.4 overs. So far, the performance of Indian Athletes has been magnificent and there are still 8 days left before the tournament ends, So the fact that Indian athletes would make us even more proud in the coming days cannot be denied.
