India’s Praggnanandhaa Plays Chess Final Against World No 1 #ChessWorldCup

R Praggnanandhaa, India’s talented young chess player had a superb performance in FIDE Chess World Cup. He made India proud.

A talented young chess player, R Praggnanandhaa from Chennai, Tamil Nadu had a superb performance in a big chess tournament called the FIDE World Cup. This was the 10th edition of the world and was played from 30th July to 24 August 2023. 

Praggnanandhaa reached the final and faced the world's best chess player, Magnus Carlsen, from Norway. Even though Praggnanandhaa played really well, Magnus Carlsen won the final. They played two regular games that ended in a draw, which means they had to play 3 tie-breakers to decide the winner. Despite not feeling well due to food poisoning, Magnus Carlsen showed his skill and experience in the tie-break games. He won the first tie-break game and then managed to secure a draw in the second one, using his strong tactics. Praggnanandhaa tried his best, but in the end, he couldn't win against Magnus Carlsen. 

After the final, famous chess players like Viswanathan Anand and Praggnanandhaa's coach R B Ramesh congratulated Magnus Carlsen for his win and Praggnanandhaa for his impressive performance. Praggnanandhaa's achievements in this tournament were remarkable. Business tycoon, Anand Mahindra also praised Praggnanandhaa on a X (Twitter) and said that Praggnanandhaa shouldn't see himself as a second-place winner, but as someone who is getting ready for future success and greatness. He encouraged him to learn from this experience and keep trying in the future. What a proud moment for India.
