India Decides to Vaccinate Everyone Above 18 Years

The central government has decided to expand the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive to all persons above the age of 18 starting 1st May.

Currently, in India only people above the age of 45 are allowed to be vaccinated for the Coronavirus. India is battling the second wave of COVID-19 and now has the highest number of infections in the world. This is why the Central Government has decided to vaccinate everyone above the age of 18 years starting from 1st May.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier on Monday 19th April 2021. The Health Ministry said Vaccine manufacturers would supply 50% of their monthly stock to the Central Government. The remaining 50% can be given to state governments and private companies. But before selling to them the manufacturers have to first decide the price and then sell. All people wanting vaccination would have to register on the CoWIN platform.
