IND vs SA: Will India Be Champions if It Rains?
IND is also set to face SA in the finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on 29th June 2024. But what will happen if the rains stop the match, just like it did during the IND vs ENG semi final?
The Indian cricket team has paved its way to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup finals after defeating every team it faced so far in the series.
Now, all of India is eagerly waiting for the team to beat South Africa in the finals on 29th June 2024 at the Kensington Oval stadium in Barbados and bring the cup back home.
But the match is expected to be affected by rain, more than the IND vs ENG semi-finals in Guyana.
ICC had allotted 250 minutes of reserved time for the semi-final because the match did not have any reserve day allotted to it.
So, what about the finals now? What will happen if it rains during the IND vs SA clash?
The match is expected to begin at 10:30 AM local time i.e. 8:30 pm IST.
This match is also allotted 250 minutes of reserved time from the match’s start time (8:30 pm IST) as per the ICC guidelines. This means that a full 20 overs per side game can begin at 12:10 AM IST even if the rains disrupt the play.
This has been done because ICC’s this year T20 World Cup rules clearly state that the aim for the organisers is to finish the game on 29th June 2024 itself, even if the final is not a full 20-over game.
However, this is possible only if both teams play a minimum of 10 overs each. If the rain does not allow both the teams to play even 10 overs then the match will be conducted on 30th June 2024.
What do you think will happen?
