Just a few days ahead of the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, 26 Congress leaders and members of the state have joined BJP, which is currently in power.

Although politicians leaving their parties and joining other parties just ahead of elections is no longer a new thing to witness in this country, this has happened again. The election in Himachal Pradesh will be held on 12th November and the counting of votes will take place on the 8th December.Just a few days ahead of the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, 26 Congress leaders and members of the state, including Dharampal Thakur Khand, who is the former General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee, joined the ruling BJP on 7th November .

This comes as a big shock to the Congress party with less than a week to go for the polling. The leaders switched parties in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and BJP's Sudhan Singh, in charge of BJP state elections. Chief Minister Jairam Thakur extended a warm welcome to all the workers in the BJP. He said, "Let us work together for the historic victory of the BJP.” Earlier, BJP National President JP Nadda expressed his confidence in the party's victory ahead of the Himachal assembly elections and said that the people of the state trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
