Hima Das Wins 5th Gold Medal in 19 Days

Hima Das has made the country proud by winning five gold medals in a mere 19 days.

Hima Das is an Indian sprint runner from Assam. She ran 400 metres in  50.79 s at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. Nobody in India has ran so fast and she holds a national record. She participated in 5 International Athletic Championships held in Europe. She won her first gold medal on July 2nd when she won the 200m race at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland. She won her second medal at the Kutno Athletics Meet on July 7 in Poland. She won her third gold on July 13 at the Kladno Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic.

On 20th July 2019, At the Metuji Grand Prix in Czech Republic she ran 400m at a speed of 52.09 seconds and won a gold medal. This was her fourth medal.The won her fifth gold medal at the Nove Mesto Athletics Meet on July 20 in Czech Republic.  In the last 19 days she has participated in 5 championships and won a gold medal in all of them.

 President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan  congratulated her on her achievements. She said that the five matches were training games to warm warm-up for the most important World Championship is coming next. She is training very hard and is focussed it. She will do her best to win and asked everyone to pray and bless her. Hima has donated 50% of her month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the floods in Assam.
