Heat Wave In Bihar Kills 70
A heat wave in Bihar has killed over 70 people in the city of Gaya. The state government has implemented tough laws to protect the people.
A Heat wave in Gaya, Bihar killed over 70 people over the weekend. This has forced the local administration to enforce strict rules and laws for the safety of the people. Located 116 km from State Capital Patna, it is one of the worst affected areas.
Officials have said all large outdoor gatherings have been banned. The local administration has said that they have enforced Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. This bans large gatherings that are usually used for law and order - but this time it will be used to force the public to stay indoors. Adding that no outdoor work can be done between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
The Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan called the deaths “unfortunate” and requested that people to not leave their homes during peak hours of heat. North India has been seeing one of the worst heat waves with temperatures reaching highs of 48 degrees in cities like Delhi, Churu In Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
