Haryana Men Force-Feed Alcohol to Cow on Holi

A viral video from Haryana showing men allegedly forcing alcohol into a cow or buffalo has sparked nationwide outrage and demands for strict action.

A disturbing video linked to Holi celebrations has triggered public outrage after showing alleged animal cruelty in the state.

On 3 March 2026, a video went viral on social media showing a group of men sitting on a cart pulled by a cow or buffalo. In the clip, two men are seen forcing the animal’s mouth open while another pours what appears to be alcohol directly into it. Others nearby are seen laughing and watching without stopping the act.

The video was first shared by the Instagram page StreetdogsofBombay and quickly gained massive attention online. Many viewers condemned the act and tagged the Haryana Police, demanding strict action against those involved. Animal rights groups also strongly criticised the incident, saying such behaviour is cruel and goes against the spirit of Holi.

Under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, causing unnecessary pain or suffering to animals is a punishable offence. This includes giving harmful substances to animals. If the accused are identified, they could face legal action.

Veterinarians warned that alcohol can be very dangerous for animals, as it can damage their digestive system, cause breathing problems and even lead to poisoning. Many people also pointed out the irony that cows are considered sacred by many, yet such incidents still occur.

The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee also reacted strongly on X, linking the incident to the controversy around the film The Kerala Story 2. The post criticised what it called selective outrage and demanded accountability.

Social media reactions remained intense through the day, with many users calling for a formal police complaint and quick action. Some reports said the animal in the video appeared visibly stressed and confused. Authorities have not yet released an official statement, and the matter is being closely watched online.
