Harmanpreet Kaur Smashes Stumps with Bat
Harmanpreet Kaur lashed out at the umpiring stands after the third ODI between India Women's and Bangladesh Women’s teams ended in a tie.
The Indian Bangladesh women’s cricket teams were playing the 3 ODI match in Bangladesh. In one match Bangladesh won and the second match India won. Yesterday the third match was played it was tie. However, in the third match, something very shocking happened. In the 34th over of the match, Harmanpreet the Indian captain was declared out by the Umpire. She was extremely angry. Unhappy with the umpire's call, she smashed the stumps with her bat, and then on her way out she had a heated exchange with the umpire as well. It was the third instance in the match where India was left disappointed over the decision made by the on-field umpire. Later at the press conference, Harmanpreet said the Bangladesh umpires are pathetic. She said, ‘The next time we are in Bangladesh, we have to come prepared to face such terrible umpiring.’ The Indian captain did not stop her outrage there. During the end-of-series photograph of both teams as the two captains shared the trophy. As both teams prepared for a joint photograph, the 34-year-old asked the Bangladesh players to invite the umpires to their team photo too. "Bring the umpires too. Why you are only here? You haven't tied the match. The umpires did it for you. Call them up! We better have a photo with them as well," said Harmanpreet. Nigar Sultana Joty the Bangladesh captain who staged a walk-out with her players after the alleged comment. It is worth noting that both on-field umpires, the third umpire, and the match referee were all from Bangladesh.
