Govt Clarifies Co-WIN App not for Public Use

The Co-WIN platform, which is used to register for COVID-19 vaccination, faced several minor glitches as the second phase of India's coronavirus vaccination program commenced.

India launched the 2nd phase of the COVID vaccination programme started yesterday 1st March. People above the age of 60 and those above 45 with comorbidities are eligible for the vaccines. The Co-WIN website went live at 9 am yesterday for people to register. However, many users took to social media to complain that the Co-WIN app did not send the OTP to their mobile numbers, which is a one-time password used to register for the vaccination drive. Some others said they received the password after a delay.

Meanwhile, a number of users were reportedly shown the message: "Co-WIN server is facing issues. Please try later." 

The Union Health Ministry Tweeted and issued a clarification saying the Co-WIN mobile app is not meant to register for or book a COVID-19 vaccination slot. People can even register via arogya setu app. 

That can only be done through the website : https://www.cowin.gov.in/home The App is meant for use by the administrators only. Till now more than 1 million Indian have registered for the vaccine on the cowin website.
