Government Doesn’t Know Cost of Aadhaar

In recent RTI application revealed that the Indian government has no idea how much it spent to create on Aadhar card.

Aadhar has become a very important card that every Indian must have. Till now the government has created more than 124 crore cards. To make so many cards requires a lot of money. This is why on 20th September, a person named Anil Galgali filed an RTI (Right to Information) request. He wanted to know how much money did the government spend to make one Aadhaar card. Galgali's application was transferred to UIDAI's management department. UIDAI is the government organisation responsible for making and giving Aadhar cards. The application was also moved to the finance and accounts department for an answer about the cost of one Aadhar card.

Shocking the government has no idea how much it costs to make one Aadhar. No information is given at the UIDAI website as well. Galgali said that UIDAI dodging questions instead of answering the RTI. He has now written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to give an answer to the RTI question. Galgali said that he wants the answer in a way that everyone in India will understand it should not be very complicated.
